Sagging Cable Lines Were Caught In Passing Vehicles

DALLAS, Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Potts Law Firm has filed a lawsuit against AT&T after an 18-wheeler crash was caused by sagging utility lines across the road in Midland, Texas.

According to the lawsuit, AT&T allowed its cable lines to sag dangerously low over the roadway, creating a hazard for motorists traveling through the area. The road is known to carry significant commercial traffic and is lined with businesses supporting the oilfield and other industries, making safe clearance especially important for commercial vehicles.

The lawsuit alleges that the sagging lines were caught by a passing 18-wheeler which resulted in power pole crashing down into traffic and injuring multiple people.

"When a company creates or allows a dangerous condition to exist over a heavily traveled roadway, the consequences can be serious," said Derek Potts, National Managing Partner of Potts Law Firm. "Commercial drivers spend their days on our roads doing their jobs, and they deserve to be able to travel without encountering preventable hazards like dangerously low-hanging utility lines."

The case also highlights an important part of Potts Law Firm's work representing people affected by commercial vehicle accidents. While 18-wheelers are often at the center of personal injury litigation, truck drivers themselves can also become victims of another party's alleged negligence.

"Truck drivers face enough risks on the road without having to worry about a utility company leaving a dangerous condition in their path." said Russell Shrauner, attorney with Potts Law Firm.

Through the lawsuit, Potts Law Firm seeks to hold the responsible parties accountable and pursue appropriate relief on behalf of its client.

This case is titled Felix Alberto Prieto and Yvette Gandara v.Southwestern Bell Telephone Company d/b/a AT&T Texas, Case No. DC-26-17579, and is to be heard in the Dallas County District Court.
