A New Way to Find Local Businesses Across Oʻahu

Honolulu, United States - July 24, 2026 / Oahu Local /

HONOLULU, July 23, 2026 — Oahu Local has relaunched OahuLocal.com, a searchable online directory designed to help residents and visitors find businesses operating across Oʻahu.

The updated platform organizes listings by business category and community, providing a central place to explore products and services available around the island. Businesses can also register to submit a listing, while owners of existing directory pages can request to claim their listings.

Oahu Local currently features businesses in communities including Aiea, Ewa, Haleiwa, Honolulu, Kailua, Kaneohe, Kapolei, Mililani, Pearl City, Waianae, Waikiki and Waipahu. Available categories span consumer and professional services such as health and beauty, lodging, food, home improvement, transportation and property services.

The relaunch is intended to address a practical discovery problem in a market composed of businesses spread across distinct neighborhoods and commercial districts. Consumers often rely on broad search platforms, social media recommendations, or word of mouth, requiring them to consult several sources before identifying nearby options.

Oahu Local brings those searches into an island-focused directory. Visitors can browse by location or category, while individual listing pages may provide business descriptions, contact information, addresses, operating hours and links to company websites when those details are available.

“Finding a local business should not depend on already knowing where to look,” said Lina Gozom, listings manager at Oahu Local. “The relaunched directory organizes businesses by service and community, giving residents and visitors a practical way to explore options across the island. The next phase will focus on broadening participation and keeping listing information useful.”

The directory enters the market at a time when small businesses account for most enterprises in Hawaiʻi. The U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Advocacy reported 144,375 small businesses statewide in its 2025 profile, representing 99.3% of Hawaiʻi businesses. Those businesses employed 251,556 people, or 49.6% of the state’s workforce.

Honolulu County also has a large and varied commercial base. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county had 20,890 employer establishments and 74,413 nonemployer establishments in 2023. The figures illustrate the range of operators consumers may encounter, from established employers to independent service providers.

The platform serves two related audiences. Residents and visitors can use it to identify businesses by service and part of the island. Business operators can use directory pages to present essential information where potential customers are already searching by category or location.

Oahu Local’s relaunch also creates a foundation for continued expansion. Adding participating businesses and maintaining useful listing details will be central to the directory’s development. The site’s structure allows it to add categories and community-specific pages as coverage grows.

The directory does not require consumers to approach an islandwide search as a single undifferentiated market. A user seeking a service in Ewa, for example, can browse that community rather than sort through results from across Oʻahu. Someone researching a particular type of business can instead begin with a category and compare the available listings.

This combination of geographic and service-based browsing reflects how people make many local purchasing decisions: first by identifying what they need and then by determining which businesses are accessible to them.

Business owners and representatives interested in participating can register through the Submit a Listing page at OahuLocal.com. Existing directory pages also include a claim option where available.
