The People's Liberation Army (PLA) has conducted joint operation drills in the Taiwan Strait in response to U.S. politician Nancy Pelosi's highly provocative trip to Taiwan.

On August 2, Pelosi sneaked into Taiwan, becoming the first Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives to visit the island in 25 years.
